MOTORCITY Novara

PROJECT

General project and contractor: Maire Tecnimont S.p.A.

The project defines the urban settlement of a giant fun park related to cars, motorcycles and boats. An estate, not far from Milan and connected to the freeway, has been selected for the construction of this big “city of enjoyment” designed for 500.000 visitors every year. This system will contain parking areas, exhibition pavilions, open air arenas, car tracks, artificial lakes, hotels and restaurants, retail shops. The park will be characterized by a circular plaza containing main pedestrian gates and retail areas. Exhibition pavilions will be located around it and the river next to it will separate the complex two main functions: the eastern one, connected to main roads, will contain parking facilities, train station and hotels; the western one will contain pavilions, arenas, tracks and lakes. A fast monorail will help clients to reach the different areas of the park. From the architectural point of view new pavilions will integrate functions in a circular volume obtained using steel and glass elements covered with a peculiar segmented light roof.
