FERRARI ENGINE PRODUCTION HALL Maranello

BUILT

General project and contractor: Maire Tecnimont S.p.A.

Sustainability: B. Camerana, University of Michigan, ECD

The principal inspirations for the work are dictated by maximum attention to quality and environmental comfort in an area rich in imagery and coherence between new construction, existing buildings and surrounding landscape. The external part of the building is characterized by greenery, which filters the direct views, giving strength from the inside to the vision of nature through the great glass façades. Maximum attention has also been given to environmental comfort and light values, transparency and visual contact with nature. The whole façade system was conceived through the analysis of exposure and solar radiation, and for this reason a sun-shielding portico was employed on the southern side, constructed from perforated aluminium elements, integrated with three glasshouses on the eastern side incorporating vertically-operated curtains movement.
