COMPETITION
In consideration of the current aspect of the Ex Refrigerator crossed by plants and trees, this refurbishment aims to maintain this formal memory by proposing a coherent system for people and nature: an entity in dialogue between history and contemporary, a sustainable and natural architecture, with highly characterized shape. From a design point of view, the portion of historic masonry will be embraced by new geometric building. Through a simple lines repeting the existing ones, the new volumes reminds to former military building. The project contains three levels: the first transparent and glazed, the second in granite and an overhanging one covered in white plaster. The building is a permeable entity from inside to outside: a functional system containing spaces overlooking the square, protected by a roof garden.
