The Recent Works
Another iconic work for the area is the Zucchetti Tower, inaugurated in the summer of 2017. The software house from Lodi, with a turnover of over 400 million euros, chose a 14-story building as its new headquarters, accommodating 350 people. This building is a renovation of a 1970s property owned by the company, located in the southern part of the city, designed by Turin-based architect Marco Visconti. The tower project, which rises above a platform hiding a public parking area and commercial space, focuses on zeroing environmental impacts (the first LEED-certified building in the province of Lodi): both in the choice of sourcing construction materials within a 350 km radius to reduce transport emissions, and in recycling 80% of demolition materials. Special attention has been paid to the comfort of workers, thanks to a tensile structure shading net, made using a family of curved tubes that gracefully wrap around the vertical volume. The structure, linked to solar path studies, modulates the passage of light and hosts photovoltaic panels generating a power of 200 kW. Another interesting aspect was the use of construction site safety management software designed by Zucchetti, allowing the company to field-test some of its products. The company also provides showers and changing rooms for employees who commute to work by bicycle (44% of whom are women), in line with the corporate philosophy of primarily engaging local personnel, who are encouraged to return home for lunch due to the deliberate absence of a canteen. The interiors are designed for flexibility: each floor is divisible and freely accessible through the entrance hall.”
