RESIDENTIAL BUILDING Giaglione
The project keeps existing volumes almost intact, in order to focus the attention on a reorganization of internal spaces. The new envelope refers to existing buildings in mountain villages of Piedmont. The roof represents the principal expressive element containing the most important aspects related to sustainability like as insulation, natural materials and energy production by renewable resources. Balconies hanging from the roof structure characterize the South facade and act as a frame for the lateral part of the roof, made of wood and perforated metal sheet. The remaining part of the facade is covered by coarse plaster while the bottom of the building is characterized by a protective base in local rock.
